Healing Seafood Chowder (Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free, Paleo, Whole30, AIP)

This mouth-watering, inflammation-fighting, simple-to-make seafood chowder is a favorite from my new book, 'The Psoriasis AIP Cookbook'.  Seafood is one of the best sources of inflammation-fighting Omega-3 fatty acids, but I find it can be difficult to stay on top of eating enough seafood throughout the week.  I created this recipe to have something in our weekly meal rotation that was easy to make, adaptable to different types of seafood, and something we would look forward to eating!  

Packed with anti-inflammatory, omega 3–rich seafood and gut-healing bone broth, this hearty and comforting soup is a complete meal as-is, or you can add cauliflower rice or white rice (AIP reintroduction) to make it even heartier!

One of my favorite things about this recipe is that is adaptable to whatever seafood is available!  This is especially important for us right now as we are living in the Bahamas and seafood options are very inconsistent - so I love that I can mix it up with this chowder.  Mixing up the seafood options is better for getting a range of nutrients from different types of seafood as well.

Meal prepping is key to success on any whole foods diet, whether Paleo, The Autoimmune Protocol (AIP), or Whole 30, so one pot recipes that freeze well like this one are essential to have in the weekly meal prep rotation.  I hope your family loves it as much as we do!

Can I substitute the shrimp?
Yes! Some great substitutions for the shrimp include scallops, clams, sardines or anchovies

Can I substitute the smoked kippers?
Yes, smoked kippers can be substituted for any other smoked seafood.

My grocery store doesn’t carry white sweet potato
You can absolutely use orange sweet potatoes or yams in this recipe instead of white – it just won’t have that classic seafood chowder ‘look’ that comes from using white potato.
